What is a WASC visiting team?
A visiting team is made up of professional educators, like you, charged with evaluating a school’s self-study in a comprehensive three day on-site review.
Why is it important that I participate in the WASC review process?
Charter school expertise is crucial to the third-party review process. Peer reviewers offer a depth of knowledge and understanding about a charter’s complex operations that many outside the charter school world cannot.
Will my participation benefit me? Will it benefit my school?
Yes! Being part of a site-visit team is perhaps the best way to learn about the third-party review process. Additionally, it can be an invaluable opportunity for teachers and administrators to:
-
Learn about new strategies, approaches and practices
-
Observe research and programs in action
-
Develop and cultivate a professional network
-
Work together for high achievement of all learners
-
Demonstrate one’s professional commitment to quality education
-
Provide insights and reflections as a fellow educator
How Do I Get Involved?
The Association is working with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) to ensure there is a solid pool of individuals who are extremely knowledgeable about charter schools to pull from for their visiting teams.
We highly encourage charter leaders, teachers and other stakeholders to participate as a WASC committee member! Volunteer for a WASC Committee here
